I am a recent graduate of the University of Birmingham having studied History and Hispanic Studies as an Undergraduate and International Relations as a Postgraduate. I am very hardworking, organised and can adapt quickly to new situations, as well as being reliable and diligent.
I can speak Spanish and have experience tutoring English as a foreign language to Spanish speaking students and I also have experience coaching Karate to all ages (from five years to sixty years old.) I am currently completing an 120 hour online Teaching English as a Foreign Language course from TEFL.org learning how to plan and deliver lessons, I will complete this course in April.
From learning foreign languages I can empathise with students and have a lot of patience in teaching because I understand that everyone learns differently and has different attention spans. From coaching Karate I learned how to lead activities that would keep children focused and in a manner that would optimise memorisation of new knowledge and concepts. I hope to transfer these skills and develop as a teacher in order to help students achieve their potential and learn happily.

I completed my BCom in Econometrics and Economics at the University of Johannesburg in 2017.

What do I have to offer? I am an analytical thinker, diligent and a meticulous person which I believe to be the type of individual that will learn and enhance my international spectrum, to keep the standard and even raise it to higher bars. In collaboration with my studies, I also have work experience as a financial controller at Sagisa Process Engineering where my duties involved doing debtors and creditors control, analysis of financials and reporting to the directors with viable solutions, using Sage Pastel/Evolution software for bookkeeping purposes , performing the B-BBEE recognition level procedure and earning the company a recognition level of 4 according to the newly established BEE Standards. Also included is SARS filing tax submissions and payroll (Intercode).

I believe to be the type of individual that will learn and enhance my international spectrum as I partake in the programme. My main aim is to add value through foreign language education and understanding of the Korean culture from different perspectives. South Korea is known to be a beautiful yet cultural and quite tech savvy country. To be honest, I don’t have first hand experience in teaching but I’m keen because I know that it’s something I can do at any given moment because it’s the most heart warming feeling, knowing that you have impacted a learners life both directly and indirectly. The opportunity has also come in a time where education has been impacted but now is the time to try and excitedly assist to get things back to normal.

My endeavours are to achieve wisdom and knowledge through education, which will result, in a character being built to serve with sound judgement and good ethical values. My achievements in this regard, have not come by default but through hard work, fighting through the most unfavourable circumstances.

My ambitions are to carry out my work faithfully and reaching my true potential by adding intrinsic value to the organisational structure as a whole. I hope my application receives your attention.

I am an English and Theater student at Jacksonville University, graduating this April 2022. I have tutored on my campus, editing essays and helping students analyze their writing styles. I have a knack for teaching as I can connect with anyone and make them feel comfortable. I credit that to my Theater major making it possible for me to relate to people with diverse backgrounds. I am a native English and Spanish speaking woman who can pick up languages fairly well. Although I don't know a great deal of Korean, I learned Japanese at a conversational level within a year. I am dedicated to teaching and when I volunteer, I offer to work with children because I feel the most impact teaching them something new. I am a model candidate for this teaching position because I am reliable, passionate, and enthusiastic. I can make an impact in any community I am placed in.

As a EFL teacher, I recognise the importance of the English Language as a Global link language. I am incredibly passionate about making the language accessible and engaging. I have seen first-hand through my teaching experience in Sri Lanka how empowering and beneficial learning English can be for individuals in their personal and academic lives as well as toward career progression.

My 120-hour TEFL certification provided me with a solid understanding of grammar and core teaching strategies that I have been able to bring to life in fun, informative and progressive lessons. As an EFL teacher I also draw upon knowledge from Psychology degree. During my Bachelors, I developed a key understanding of the workings and mechanisms involved in areas such as speech and language, the neuroscience of learning and memory, developmental psychology and individual differences- all topics that I find to be intrinsically linked and fundamental in teaching English as a foreign language.

Qualifications aside, I believe that energy and enthusiasm is just as important. As a teacher I focus on building good rapport with students and an encouraging learning environment. I recognise the importance of adaptability and flexibility regarding classes of different sizes and ages. As a teacher I can follow a curriculum and supplement with added resources as well as creating my own lesson plans and activities. During my most recent teaching position, I taught a mixture of large classes and smaller classes (including one on one) and was able to help them improve proficiency across reading writing speaking and listening. Due to the ongoing repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was also able to adapt lessons designed for a classroom with great success to be taught online via zoom.
Alongside grammar-based lessons, I am also interested in teaching more conversational based English as an excellent method of tailoring learning to the students requirements and allowing them to excel in areas most helpful to them. Furthermore, I would also really enjoy working with younger learners; teaching captivating lessons that inspire another generation of English language speakers.

Personally, I try to be active and curious with a desire to experience new things and explore more of the world. One thing I love about being an EFL teacher is the opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture.

In 2020 I completed my PGCE at the University of Cumbria and obtained qualified teaching Status. During my teacher training year I worked within all primary school year groups, from nursery up to Year 6. Since completing my PCGE I have worked as a Year 5 teaching assistant (TA), a Year 3 class teacher and spent 6 months volunteering as an EFL teacher for adult learners in Sri Lanka.

I have worked closely with many children who have SEND and EAL, these experiences have allowed me to further develop my own communication skills so all of the children in my class could access and learn from the lessons I delivered. It also taught me the importance of differentiating work for my class, so all students can learn and be challenged at an appropriate level for them – this was especially useful when I worked in a mixed Year 3 and 4 group during my teacher training. I have also had experience working with children who have moved on from behavioural units into mainstream school so my classroom management and behaviour management skills are excellent. Due to my wide variety of experiences in the UK and Sri Lanka I have been able to develop many skills. I have taught both online and in person lessons to adults and children so my technological skills have vastly improved in the last year. I have also used both formative and summative assessments to help my students.

I am a highly organised, positive and responsible person, but above all I am an enthusiastic and devoted teacher. Since beginning my teaching journey in 2019 I have discovered my love of education. As a teacher you are given the wonderful opportunity to use you own knowledge and skills to facilitate the learning of others; building them up for success in their education and careers. I can think of no better job to be in than that of an educator.
