I am a very inquisitive individual, always seeking to learn new things and improve every facet I can. I like to consider myself as a welcoming and sociable person, always willing to converse with others whether they are new or familiar faces. Having a desire for travelling and having graduated with a degree in English Language and Literature, I decided to facilitate my interests and skills through teaching English as a second language.

After I graduated I took the leap to move to Hanoi, Vietnam, to teach English at public schools. During my time teaching for Binh Minh Education Development Center (Jan 2019 – Mar 2020), I taught over 1000 students and 30 classes per week, demonstrating cross-cultural communication skills, as well as structure and enthusiasm within the classroom. I also exhibited cultural sensitivity inside and outside the classroom, immersing myself and embracing a foreign culture and adjusting to its unique social etiquette. Since the pandemic, I have transferred my skills onto online platforms, where I continue to teach children and adults English every day.

Moving to Vietnam allowed me to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone, which facilitated invaluable personal growth. I consistently try to challenge myself physically and mentally to develop my skills and expose myself to new experiences. I am curious to seek new environments and enhance my skills, whether this is in a new work environment or a foreign culture.

I am lucky to be the kind of person who can get along well with others and relate to any age. I am also a very open-minded individual, especially if it piques my interest or gives me a chance to learn something new. I am very flexible and capable to adjusting quickly to any given situation.
I have been a part of the Girl Scouts of America since I was 6 years old and continue to participate by helping lead troops of young girls. Girl Scouts taught me how to be a leader. It has always been a privilege to help inspire the next generation of girls to take on challenging tasks make a difference in their community, and become leaders.
Through working with Girl Scouts of America and as well as working as a private nanny I have been able to work with many amazing children, each unique in their own way. This has taught me how to be adaptive while working with others to adjust to their individual needs so no one gets left behind.
One of my biggest experiences that I want to mention, that I did not expect, was when my professor asked me to teach for his classes. He did not like the subject of Statistic nor did he understand it well, it was a section in the curriculum though. He asked the class if anyone had taken Statistics before taking his class, which was research methods, and I was the only one who spoke up, so he had me teach the class and him the subject. After class he asked me if I had the time to teach the unit to his other classes, I agreed. It was one of my most enjoyable experiences and it got me interested in teaching in the future.

I am a graduate student in molecular biology with a passion in imparting my knowledge in the life sciences to future generations. My undergraduate and graduate studies have equipped me with a broad knowledge in the life sciences in cellular biology, human anatomy, human physiology, ecology, and evolution. I also enjoy teaching the practical aspects of biology through demonstrations of laboratory techniques such as cell culturing or PCR, emphasis on the importance of data analysis skills in science, as well as guiding students through the scientific method. My experience teaching adolescents and young adults has allowed me the skills needed to facilitate constructive learning environments. I believe my teaching experience as well as my broad knowledge in concepts and laboratory techniques in biology has equipped me with the skills needed to make an impact on young minds and to foster an appreciation for science.

The majority of my recent work experience is based in the legal sector working and assisting solicitors after completing my law degree. However, while studying I gained a lot of experience working in retail and in various bar jobs. I also have experience as a football referee which may be of particular use when teaching young children as I was refereeing mainly youth football. So I have some experience of managing children, being clear and also flexible in my approach to ensure they understand.

In terms of my personality, I am a very calm individual. I am clear and understanding as well as fair. I am a good listener and communicator – these are things I believe will stand me in good stead to be a very strong teacher. Not to mention, I have an extremely firm grasp of the English Language developed through my academic studies as well as in my leisure time as I am a very keen reader of non-fiction books. My other passions include sport, music, comedy and travel.

Having already taught English in Vietnam for one year and learning to thrive in a new culture, I would consider myself an ideal candidate for a teaching role in Korea.

Whilst working for Binh Minh Education in Hanoi, I taught English at schools across the city, to students ranging from Kindergarten to Secondary level, and gained a wealth of classroom experience in this time.Teaching a class of five infant students in a morning, to over 50 crammed into a room that afternoon, means I had to adapt how I teach, and switch mentally between styles. As such, I’ve learnt to use my initiative, and most importantly, be a friendly, patient mentor to my students.

Though classroom sizes in Hanoi have taught me how to manage a large number of students, teaching online for the past several months with Palfish and Education First has allowed me to perfect a one-on-one approach. Only tutoring one pupil at a time gives me the opportunity to develop teaching methods that large class sizes don’t always give scope for, and try new things depending on the student’s level and needs. For example, using a number of drawing, writing, and listening activities to gage an individual’s learning style.

In addition to teaching experience, studying English at university has given me an in-depth knowledge of the English language, and how to use it creatively when planning lessons and activities for students. I further combined this love of language and teaching when writing content for the renowned i-to-i TEFL course providers. Writing articles such as “four top tactics to keep your students engaged” and “fun ways to get your students learning about the environment” cemented my passion for teaching, and it is this level of commitment and professionalism that I am eager to bring to a school in Korea.

With nearly two years of experience teaching English as a second language, English bachelors degree, and a desire to experience the vibrant Korean culture, I believe I am an ideal candidate for this role.

After teaching English over the course of two years, I believe I'm well qualified in terms of experience, and feel confident managing a classroom. After achieving a high 2:1 hons in English, I've used this knowledge and language expertise to enrich my teaching, and provide both a creative, and technical approach.
As well as offline teaching, I have experience teaching ESL with a number of reputable online companies, and have been working with Palfish and Education First since January 2020. As an online teacher, I provide language tuition for children aged between five and fourteen, ranging from basic to complex grammar, writing, listening, and conversational skills.

Dear Sir/Madam.

I am currently in the final stages of my MA in Postcolonial Studies at University of Kent’s school of English. With an undergraduate degree in BSc Social Sciences. During my time undergoing both these programmes, I have covered literature and research pertaining to social inclusion policy, group psychology, and literary theory. Therefore, my interests include the arts and culture in retrospective to social policy and the social sciences.

With my current position as an English literature and language tutor for French-native students, I have experienced a different culture of teaching, in addition to my teaching experience in Kabale, Uganda. This has introduced me to a different set of challenges, in terms of communicating and developing material for students who have a low-level proficiency of English and experience with a different learning experience to what I am familiar with. I have overcome these challenges, by adapting my teaching style to my students and their interests, and researching material that would inspire and assist them with their learning experience.

Previous to my current experience, I have worked as an ESL lead within a primary school in the Sultanate of Oman. My role included: Teaching English as a second language and providing support for students with English language deficiency. I also had the responsibility to develop intervention strategies to help second language English speakers. and also providing support to teachers with classroom intervention assistance for second language English speakers.

I have worked successfully as a student ambassador, acting as a liaise between the University and potential students, and working in an administrative role. I have worked with social-development projects and schools in Kabale, Uganda with a number of teachers and project leads to develop a number of educational and development programmes for young people within the district. I have assisted in delivering English literacy workshops with young people who have adopted English as a second language.
I have further expanded these skills with an education-sports based charity in London, UK as a project assistant. Again I have worked alongside education and project leads in developing programmes, skill workshops and project based learning activities with young people aged 13-15 and as a liaise between the organisation, stakeholders, schools, and other projects.

I am extremely creative and outgoing individual who enjoys embarking on projects such as painting, knitting, and I have recently completed writing my first novel. I aspire to constantly expand my vocabulary through reading while also practicing my Korean reading abilities through watching Korean interviews/television series. I am a strong verbal communicator, a skill I've acquired through informally tutoring my peers during my bachelors, and through being the president of a society I started on campus. Having worked in Shanghai, China for two months also allowed me to push myself beyond my comfort zone to acclimate to a new country in a short span of time. During this time, I developed my multi-tasking skills through carrying out various tasks for the law firm's partners simultaneously. I believe I would make an excellent teacher as I am able to think quickly on my feet thus can tailor my approach to teaching based on individual class/students needs.
