I currently hold nearly 2 years of ESL teaching experience. I taught for 15 months in a language centre in Hangzhou, China. In this language school I taught students aged 2 to 15. In this role I was told by my co teachers and senior teachers that I was a very warm and welcoming teacher. I try to encourage each student individually to do their best as opposed to being number 1. I want to see everyone progressing, not just the top in the class. Whilst taking this role I gained 2 Cambridge TKT certificates.
I also have been teaching students online for 6 months. I currently teach one to one VIP students from China, as well as a large group of business professionals from the Middle East. As teaching online has been new to me this year I have tried to adapt to the platforms as well as I could. I try to be a facilitator for the students to practice their English with each other, and correct any accuracy mistakes. I want these students to build their confidence in using the English language. I taught a group of primary aged Estonian children History as a CLIL course. These students were learning History and English at the same time from me, so I have skills in teaching other subjects in English.

I am a patient, dependable and friendly aspiring ESL English teacher, with 3 months experience in the teaching field, which I gained from volunteering at a public primary school.

I have experience working within a school environment as a student ambassador for Bournemouth University. With this role I delivered workshops to small groups of children aged 10-12 on various subjects, I really enjoyed this role and I am looking to further my experience of working in a school environment. Further to this I have 2 years experience working as an archaeologist across the UK. These roles in my professional career have given me the skills to work independently, as part of a team and an attention to detail.

Having worked withing the heritage sector as a senior archaeologist for 11 years i have managed and directed a variety of large and small scale projects. Having held more senior positions my people management, time management and organisation skills are first class. Throughout my career i have also been heavily involved in student and staff training. Most notably i worked for Bournemouth University teaching best practices in archaeology and theory to students up to Masters level using various educational tools.

The majority of my career highs have all centred around the educational elements of my work and this encouraged me to complete the TEFL online course last year. I am now looking to pursue an English teaching career abroad and to further my teaching skills. I have a passion for culture, travel and education which makes me an ideal candidate for such a role.

Archaeology is a profession which incorporates a number of disciplines from scientific, computer based to social and over the years i have gained many transferable skills in all of these disciplines plus many more. Away from work I enjoy history, Art, food and sports.

Over the past ten years, I have grown to love working with children. My experience has allowed me to work with a wide variety of age groups, ranging from three to thirteen years old. In this time, I have learned how to handle children in large groups, use appropriate discipline, cater to their needs, and engage with them in fun and creative ways. Previous work experience at Vice Media and Story Arc taught me to efficiently manage my time and sharpened my interpersonal skills. These skills will serve me well when it comes to lesson planning and working with the school's administration to ensure that my facilitation is appropriate and in line with the curriculum. In completing my TEFL coursework, I learned how to make lessons student-focused, limit teacher talking time, and the importance of eliciting understanding from students. I am excited to apply this knowledge in the classroom through the use of partner work, role-playing activities, songs, and educational games. As a creative, adaptable, and empathetic person, I am confident in my ability to assess students' needs and come up with new ways to make learning English not only exciting but also digestible.
