Currently I am working towards my TEFL course as teaching English abroad has always been something that I have been keen on so I am excited to be working towards the certificate.

In 2016 I went to Montoro, Córdoba for 1 week with the university to help teach English to younger kids and help them learn all about Scotland as well. This was a such a great experience as it showed the teaching way and it was great interacting with everyone involved and helping the kids with basic English by doing lots of different activity’s and fun games to keep them interested and easier learning. Last year I worked as a representative for Thomas Cook which were a travel company before going bust in 2019, I got learn lots about the destination I was in and the Spanish culture where I lived for 6 months. Doing welcome meetings every morning for the guests and chatting and interacting with them everyday of their holiday. This was an amazing opportunity as it was such a boost in my confidence by speaking to crowds and with people of all different cultures and having fun as well in the hotels activities.

I attended the University of the Highlands and Islands.Gaining my BA (Hons) in History and Politics on the 30th July 2018, achieving upper second class honours. I then acquired my Mlitt in History the following year, achieving a passing grade. At university I completed modules that focus on British politics, culture and history such as the ‘British identities’ module. This will enable me to instill a sense of culture into my lessons.

During my undergraduate and masters I have worked mainly in kitchens, such as at the Dornoch Patisserie and Jurys Inn. At these jobs I have become skilled at working as part of a team in a busy, often hectic enviroment. I was also responsible for the training of new staff at both of these businesses which helped me realize how much I enjoyed teaching.

This has made it my goal to acquire a teaching position. To this end I completed a 140-hour TEFL.org course. This included, video observation, teaching large classes, Telephone Teaching Course, Methodology and Grammar modules. This has given me a strong introduction to teaching English, which I hope to expand upon in acquiring employment as an English teacher.

I do not have much experience with teaching, beyond the teaching required for my University degree. However, I do have experience being in Korea and I am currently learning Korean, while looking at taking the TOPIK proficiency exam in the near future.

I am a lively individual. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and relaxed around a teacher. I know how to brighten an atmosphere and keep people smiling, while also being aware of the limit and understanding when to tone it down and be more serious and stern. I am a motivator too, I encourage others to try harder and to never stop working, no matter what. The only things worth having are the things we've worked hard for.

I am a computer literate person, I have no trouble operating a computer and using one to create powerpoint presentations.
I consider myself linguistically competent. Not only do I have a firm grasp on the English language but learning other languages is something I enjoy.
I am a goal driven person. I set standards for myself and targets to achieve and I work my hardest to see them accomplished.
I also believe I am a quick learner and can adapt to a new environment swiftly.

In the last 5 years of my professional experience, I have worked in the education field which assisted families in the USA with funding for their education.

I have some experience working with children and training adults. I've worked with people from various parts of the world with their English fluency and their understanding of the American culture.

I recently moved to Korea from the United States on an F-6 Visa in July of 2020. I first visited Korea in 2012 to experience my wife’s culture and visited several times in the following years. My purpose of relocating to Korea long-term was to immerse myself into a culture and family which I have grown to love, and having the opportunity to serve a positive role in Korean community as an English Teacher.

I believe motivating students to want to practice English, and helping enhance their overall English capabilities to benefit their futures would provide me a sense of pride and fulfillment. Although I have no classroom teaching experience, on prior visits I have had personal interactions with younger Korean family members and friends who once were reluctant, but overtime pursued practicing English with me. This brought me joy and facilitated my desire to move to Korea and teach.

I am a very energetic and proactive person. In my spare time I enjoy training for endurance cycling and running competitions. I believe that my outgoing personality traits, personal experiences in Korea, and professional qualities gained through my prior work experience will provide the balance of energy and professionalism that it requires to be successful in a private English school.

I have had experience working with children in a summer camp, this experience working abroad has given me valuable lessons in dealing with children and helping them be productive in a work environment.

Having passed the 120 hour online TEFL course, I flew to Hanoi in January 2020 to begin an EFL teaching internship through Fluent Vietnam. This included teacher training in Hanoi, and further training through Dang Tuan Language Centre in Haiphong, using the Cambridge curriculum. I delivered ten 40 minute lessons with primary school students (aged 5 – 10), before schools closed across the country due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As Haiphong is located 1700km from the Chinese border, I made the difficult decision to cut the internship short and fly back to the UK early February.

However, my time in Vietnam proved that I was passionate about teaching, and that I was able to manage large class sizes (30 – 50 pupils), with support from a local teaching assistant. Although flashcards and worksheets were provided, the lesson plans were my own, and I was able to adapt lessons to suit the varying abilities of the students. Having come from a youth theatre background, I tend to use physical games and exercises to manage children's energy levels, and to hold their attention span whilst introducing new language. Vietnamese children are highly energetic and competitive, so good behaviour was rewarded with a team game to finish the lesson.

The reason this vacancy appeals is the incredible opportunity to explore SK, whilst honing my teaching skills over the academic year. Having travelled to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, I’m really keen to learn about Korean culture, taste the cuisine and visit the beautiful beaches.

What I can bring to the role is a confident and methodical approach to teaching, which allows the students to figure the language out for themselves, and apply it naturally. I have a clear English accent, which will be easy for the students to understand, but will also help with pronunciation.

I am Asiphe Sibali, a native English speaker from South Africa. I have a 120 hours online Tesol certificate and a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management which has equiped me with skills such as great communication, patience, relationship building, adaptable and crisis management.

I don't have a proffesional teaching experience but during my time in University I had the opportunity of tutoring other students for a period of 2 years. I had the opportunity to instruct a wide variety of students from various backgrounds and all facets of society. As a result, I am a compassionate teacher, who remains sensitive people's unique needs, differentiates instruction, provides individual whole group support, integrates multicultural teaching units, and offers positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep students focused and motivated.
