I am a very enthusiastic person who has a great passion for leaning and teaching. I love working with children of all ages and helping them learn a new language and culture. I believe these are important lessons for everyone to learn as the world moves towards a global culture. It is also for this reason that l seek out and enjoy opportunities to learn the language and culture of the country l am living in.
In order to be the most effective teacher I can be I have gained both TEFL/TESOL and PGCE qualifications since graduating from university in 2019. My PGCE course required l complete two placements within two separate schools while also completing academic research and assignments. Since graduating in July 2021 l have been employed by my current employer as a native English teacher in Hong Kong for primary level students.
The skills that these experiences have equipped me with are numerous; l am highly organized and a very efficient time keeper, l am able to create my own lessons and schemes of work from a given curriculum or adapt to and adjust pre-made lesson plans, and I can work well and build rapport quickly with children throughout the primary and secondary environment, as well as with colleagues and co-teachers.

I am a very patient and experienced teacher with over 1 year of experience teaching in South Korea and over 5 years of teaching ESL and private tutoring for the TOEFL exam. I have an outgoing and vibrant personality and I speak intermediate Korean as well. I am well versed with technology, responsible and inspirational.

I am currently studying my PGCE Foundation Phase. I originally studied Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture which was a long 5 years and on completion of my studies I went to China to gain some experience. While I was living there, I still had to pay the bills so I ended up teaching at an International Kindergarten in Shanghai. It was there that I completely fell in love with teaching little children and realised that that was actually my true passion. I taught in China for 4 years and then came home to South Africa in the August of 2020.

At the beginning of this year I was lucky to get a teaching position as an online preschool teacher with a company called Kido Education. They have an online school as well as physical schools all around the world. There, I taught students in the USA and Dubai and also helped with the Physical Development Curriculum which will be incorporated into the physical KIDO schools in Houston, Hong Kong, London, Dubai and some cities in India. I also helped with the development of the online curriculum.

I am a honest, nurturing, loving, bubbly, vibrant female who is well organised, punctual and reliable. I am fun, I bring a lot of energy to my classes, I work well in groups and I get on well with everybody. I have good people skills and can communicate with people on all levels. I have a willingness to learn and when given a task I do it whole heartedly.

My strengths are my teaching abilities and techniques that enable me to grasp the attention of my students by doing activities that encourage more student talking time than teacher talking time. I believe in the 60/40 rule, where 60% of the time the student is speaking and the teacher speaks 40% of the time, this improves students vocab and pronunciation in the English language. how my lesson plan will go is:

My personality , I'm a very fun person, who wants to make everyone in the room comfortable. I'm also very observant, energetic, creative, organized and adventurous. I've taught for 7 years in the Korean Public School system and so I have garnered experience both teaching elementary school students and middle school students. It has been such an honor to want to teach Korean children as they are so keen for knowledge and English.

My personality is one that is extremely focused on creating an environment for children where they feel safe and able to be themselves. My biggest goal daily is to see children leaving my class happy while learning and enough confidence to conquer the world. As for my skills, over the seven years I have had the privilege to teach along side highly skilled Korean teachers who taught me a lot about the art of teaching.

My skills involve usually to sing, dance go beyond the borders of teaching and create a class where children are free to express opinions. Where they feel that their classmates have listened to them, where they feel like they belong regardless of their English speaking abilities. I am good at classroom management and keeping students on track, to complete a task. I have been known to make a full class of middle schoolers and parents at Open Day, dance along and learn English in the process.

My strengths as a teacher include being able to assess children's difficulties in studying English and helping them be successful.
I am very patient and understanding when studying a second language because I myself am learning other languages and it's not easy. My job as a teacher is to guide every student with patience and kindness. My passion in class is using my singing voice and dancing while learning English too. Children love to see their teacher be silly and have fun while learning.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language has always appealed to me; combining my passion for teaching and education with my desire to explore new places and cultures. Working as a playworker, a TLSA and now as a Trainee teacher, my career path as an educator is still continuing to unfold before me. By July 2022, I will have earned my PGCE in Primary Education and will gain qualified teacher status, in addition to my experience in the education field of over 5 years.
Whilst educating in a broader sense has been appealing, I have always had a specific interest in languages; learning both Chinese and French in school, undertaking Japanese through self-study and having a love for the intricacies of the English language. As someone so absorbed in different languages, I feel that my experiences are easily reversable, and will enable me to be an effective EFL teacher myself.
During the initial COVID 19 lockdown, I began researching TEFL in more depth, and undertook a 168-hour Level 5 TEFL course in this time.
As a confident, hard-working and enthusiastic person, I can truly thrive in a lively classroom environment. I pride myself on my punctuality and professionalism, and feel that my sensitivity to cultural differences would benefit me in South Korea. I consider teaching a career that is a great fit for me, as I find expanding on my knowledge and solving problems incredibly fulfilling. This love for learning has ultimately led me to find teaching so rewarding. My passion for languages will help me take this to the next level, and hopefully begin my TEFL journey in Korea.

I’ve worked with children in a daycare for about 4 months as of January 5, 2022. I’ve also been an academic tutor for 2 years as well. I love to teach and it’s always been a passion of mine to be a teacher.

I have over six years experience of statistical and data analysis. I am a team player with great communication skill, time management skill, and a strong work ethic. In terms of personality, I am friendly, approachable, caring, and empathetic. Moreover, my hobbies are reading and traveling.
