I have often been entrusted with mentor and training positions throughout university and my career. At university, I was part of my department’s ‘Parent Scheme’ which paired 2nd/3rd year students with 1st years to provide guidance. This ranged from general advice about the university to supporting them with their university courses and tutoring. The above experiences go some way to compensate for my not having direct classroom experience.
Throughout my career, I have regularly been relied upon to train new joiners to our company. I provided support, guidance and training across our platforms, the company’s ways of working and the marketing industry. A large part of my current role in Customer Success involves training new clients on our company’s platform. It is essential to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure your clients have all the tools and information they need to eventually use the platform independently. The skills used in this aspect of my role are highly transferable to those needed for teaching.

Personality:
I am empathetic, patient and confident, which are all essential traits of a successful teacher.
Empathy is an important tool that can help you better understand what is driving your students’ attitude to learning and find strategies to help. It also contributes to developing a good working relationship with students.
Patience is key as all students learn at different rates and it is important to persevere and support each student in their learning journey.
Having confidence improves your overall performance and effectiveness as a teacher, especially confidence in subject knowledge.
I am also a dedicated and hardworking individual who does not shy away from a challenge. I thrive when given the opportunity to hone and master new skills.

Skills:
I have a variety of skills that will benefit me greatly in an English teaching career.
During my career in Customer Success, I have developed my strong interpersonal skills owing to the nature of the role which required me to work with a wide variety of different individuals either as clients or in the company’s internal teams.
I am highly organised as shown by successfully supporting clients with their campaign development and delivery, often working to tight deadlines. This skill is essential in teaching, especially with lesson planning, to make sure that all are planned out with a clear structure and goals in mind to ensure the students get the most out of each lesson.
I am adaptable, with experience in changing project plans to new requirements whilst maintaining a high standard work and delivery. No two lessons are the same and being adaptable will enable me to react appropriately to every situation which might arise during a lesson.
I have demonstrated my strong written communication skills during my time at university and throughout my career. I can accurately and effectively communicate with a variety of individuals ensuring that my written style is suited well for the best possible level of comprehension.
