A teacher can change a person’s life; not only through education, but also as an individual and it is vital that a teacher does everything they possibly can to help a student succeed. I consider myself a positive, empathetic and determined person, who is a strong and confident leader and I believe these traits are necessary for a successful learning environment.

I completed a three year Bachelor’s Degree in Politics and International Relations. This field of study relies heavily on communication, whether this was through topical debates, teaching fellow students about different topics, through presentations, or working in a team to complete an assignment.

I have also completed a 168-hour Level 5 TEFL certificate which provided me with the knowledge and guidance on how to effectively teach students of different ages, abilities and needs.

I volunteered in a ‘Young Readers Scheme’ when I was 16/17 years old. During this scheme, I helped an 11/12 year old student to develop their reading ability and confidence. We would read a book or news article together and then complete an activity to consolidate their learning.
