My name is Morgan Crier and I am a graduate of Louisiana State University with a major in International Studies. I chose this major because I am passionate about culture which led me to apply to teach abroad. I want to immerse myself in another culture while also doing something meaningful. Teaching abroad is meaningful to me because I am a firm believer that education is a powerful tool. By teaching abroad I will provide children with a tool to pave their futures. Equally, I too will be paving a future for myself towards being a more globally minded citizen.

I have extensive experience working with children, beginning in high school. In high school I worked as a summer camp counselor for Hammond High School’s Torbotics Summer Camp. Torbotics Summer Camp is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) day camp for children ages 6-14. At the summer camp children were divided into smaller groups based on their age. Having worked at the summer camp all four years of my high school career I gained experience working with all different age groups. My duties at the summer camp included creating lesson plans with my fellow team leaders based on the objectives of the day. I would then implement and facilitate the lesson plan guiding and assisting the students in reaching the objectives.

My experience working with kids doesn’t stop in high school though. In college I volunteered on Fridays at the Boys and Girls which is an after school program for elementary to high school children. However, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club that I volunteered at was catered towards elementary aged children. At the Boys and Girls Club I assisted the students with their homework as well as facilitated group activities.
