I am writing to express my interest in the English language teacher position.
As a native speaker who has spent much of my life and formal education in the United States,
I am thrilled at the opportunity to travel to another country and use my diverse teaching background to
invest in an international community to foster the next group of English speakers.
I hold a BA in Art and Design with a focus on Games and Playable Media from the University
of California, Santa Cruz, and I just completed my MA in Product and Service Design at
Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. While my academic journey has focused on design and
creative arts, my professional experience has provided me with a wealth of teaching and
instructional skills that I believe are well-suited to the role of an English language teacher.
In my role as an environment art teaching assistant at Vertex School, I gained valuable
experience in breaking down complex concepts into understandable lessons for a diverse
range of students, from high schoolers to adults. I frequently provided one-on-one
guidance and feedback, which is an essential skill for a proactive teacher. I also created
lessons ensuring each student fully comprehended the wide set of skills and know-how
needed to succeed in the industry. This experience honed my ability to communicate
clearly and effectively and how to break down a specialized topic to the average layperson.
Earlier at TechKnowHow, a summer robotics camp for students, I served as an assistant
instructor in a camp setting, teaching children in subjects like coding, robotics, and game
design. My work required me to be patient, adaptable, and proactive, qualities that are
crucial when teaching English to students of varying skill levels. I provided individualized
instruction, tracked student progress, and helped troubleshoot any challenges they faced.
Working with children who are not well acquainted with technology compared to adults
taught me patience and to circle back to core ideas. These experiences taught me how to
engage with students and ensure that their learning is both fun and productive.
In addition to my teaching experience, I believe my unique cultural background as a third
culture kid will be an advantage to the classroom. Growing up in Mongolia and then moving
to the United States at the young age of three has given me a deep understanding of the
challenges and rewards of learning a second language as well as keeping your connection
to your heritage. I am excited to share this perspective with students in South Korea, helping
them not only improve their English skills but also build their confidence and motivation.
I am eager to contribute to the mission of providing quality English education
and look forward to discussing how my background, and skills with the staff.
Kind regards,
Khatantitem (Sandy) Evsanaa
