I have experienced teaching small classes of students between the ages of 4 and 15 years in Maths and English at Explore Learning, a UK-based private tutoring centre. As part of my work, I have to tailor my teaching approach to classes of mixed abilities, and to cater to those with special educational needs. I feel that my time at Explore Learning has allowed me to realise my passion and enthusiasm for the profession, whilst developing my own teaching skills and methods. Additionally, I conduct specific classes based on a curriculum designed for the 11+ Grammar School entrance exam, split into three sections: English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. My ability to plan curriculum-based lessons and provide high quality teaching and thorough feedback to students and parents would make me an ideal candidate for the role of English Teacher.
I obtained my Level 5, 300-Hour TEFL certificate in 2021 in order to develop my teaching capabilities and enhance my English teaching skills. Previously, I had only taught English to native-language students, therefore, I gained in-depth knowledge and experience into ESL teaching. As a native English speaker, I would love the opportunity to pass on my knowledge of the language and the culture of the English-speaking world.
My 4-year degree in Italian and Spanish has provided me with a plethora of skills that are applicable to the role of an educator. Through learning new languages, I have not only gained a deeper knowledge of the English language, but I have been able to identify my own personal language-learning difficulties and how I overcame them, therefore, I can present effective methods for language learning. My time studying abroad helped me to adapt to a new way of life and appreciate a different culture, a skill that would be extremely important to adapting to life in Korea. Open-mindedness, cultural awareness and the ability to adapt to one’s environment are key skills that I have developed during my time at university, which I will be able to apply in my role as a teacher.
I am an organized and hard-working individual with a passion for education. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be an enthusiastic and intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to the lives of young learners.
