I am a TEFL certified native English speaker, born and raised in London, England. I possess a Degree in English Language and Literature and I currently living and teaching successfully in Thailand with my partner Lydia. I have also completed numerous hours of one-to-one online teaching to students aged between 4 – 16 years of age. I am an intelligent and outgoing individual with almost 10 years previous professional experience working in the Film & Television industry. A career in the media has provided me a proven track record as a strong leader with an easy adaptability to ever-changing working environments. Friendly, diligent, approachable and an attentive listener; I possess the transferable skills and experience required to continue being exceptional ESL teacher.
I am a happy and enthusiastic teacher and enjoy going beyond the allotted lesson time, be it lesson planning and homework, decorating a class room, or helping to organise cultural events, assemblies and day trips. I want my teaching experience to be more than just the time spent in the classroom. Aside from my love of teaching English and writing journals, poems and short stories, my personal interests include cycling; regularly taking part in long distance events of up to 120 miles, keeping myself fit and athletic. I have a keen interest in music, regularly attending concerts, as well as being an avid guitarist. I am also proficient cook and like to explore international cuisines by cooking for friends and family. I continue to enjoy all of these interests whilst I am working in Asia, happy that they are enhancing my teaching style and further immersion into the culture.
I am particularly interested in living and teaching in South Korea as this is a place where education is taken seriously. I want to teach within a system that understands the importance of English as a foreign language. In Thailand I am used to teaching class sizes of up to 45 students, however as a personable teacher I am keen to teach address smaller classes, where I can offer more one-to-one tutoring and manage individuals specific needs and character.
