ESL Teachers

I’m post-graduate educated from the leading university in Africa, the University of Cape Town, and an EFL qualified teacher. I have experience with private tutoring for a child with learning difficulties; a second language English speaking child in Mumbai; and have volunteered as an English tutor through an NGO at university, where I taught English to small groups of five to ten students from impoverished areas in Cape Town. Similarly, I have also worked as a committee member of an organisation that took children on bi-monthly hikes or camps, where I helped plan and execute environmentally based lessons and form meaningful relationships with children who were otherwise unlikely to have positive role models. I thus have experience teaching, mentoring and caring for children with different needs and backgrounds.
I love to learn, and have a natural inclination toward sharing my knowledge and teaching. As a result of my hard working and committed nature, I always strive to give my best to everything that I do. Because I have lived and worked in international settings, I’m at ease submersing myself in cultures very different to my own and always respectful there of. My work experience has given me good communication, editing, writing, planning and people skills. Moreover, I'm a naturally jovial, approachable and positive person and am constantly striving to improve.

I am a British teacher currently living and working in Italy. I have spent the last year teaching English as a second language in a number of schools across Genoa and the wider Liguria region. This has included private one-on-one tuition, active classes that incorporate language learning with drama, sport and
music and in particular, exam preparation classes for Cambridge ( KET, PET, FCE) and Trinity (GESE). I have experience teaching a wide age-range of students, including adults.

I have also spent a number of years as a summer camp activity leader in Switzerland and Portugal and a school residential counselor at home in the UK, so I have plenty of experience in engaging with children outside the four walls of a classroom. I have led activities ranging from den building and orientation to arts and craft and team-building exercises. I have also done volunteer work as a youth football coach and as the host of an annual dance festival for local primary schools (however my dance skills – or lack of – meant that I was allowed nowhere near the choreography).

My three core values when teaching are mutual respect, inclusivity and creative thinking.

Strengths in integrating course material, composing student-centered lessons, and teaching with enthusiasm to generate independent thought while improving fluency, reading, and writing skills.

I spent the year 2017 in rural China as a TEFL instructor at a secondary school, where I was forced to quickly adapt to being the only Westerner in my little city. Most of my experience is in the form of structuring lessons and catering to the needs of the students' actual English levels, as well as connecting with them personally to make the material exciting and relevant.

As for my personality, I'm very bubbly and adaptable to new surroundings. My love of languages and education show that I have an affinity for being amicable in a way that engages students in lessons. I am always happy to help in anyway I can when it comes to the needs of the school, but especially to my students.

I am a citizen of the United States with a Bachelor's Degree as well as a 120 hour TEFL certificate. I have my necessary documents (diploma & background check) ready. I'm a responsible professional who is open-minded to other cultures and feel I would be a great fit for this opportunity.

I am a fully qualified TEFL teacher with over two years experience of teaching English as a second language. I am passionate about teaching and my own development as a teacher and aim to continue growing and improving as a teacher both through formal training and through the experience that I gain whilst teaching. I am interested in curriculum development and different approaches to and methods of teaching. I am organized, hard-working, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

My creative mindset alongside my technical knowledge of a variety of equipment allows me to create interesting and experimental content through film making, photography and editing in order to catch and keep people's attention and convey information.

Furthermore, I can communicate effectively with thanks to my experience in working within retail jobs and assisting a variety of customers, as well as my assistant roles during my times working for the University's Students' Union, where I would converse with a diverse selection of students from around the globe.

I am proud of my work ethic, as can organise my workloads effectively and work efficiently in order to meet deadline whilst producing the best quality of work.

I also have a strong ability to read people and situations as I often play basketball and have to know what the other players are planning to do in order to make my moves to give our team success. I am also able to acknowledge when people are understanding me and what I’m conveying, as I had to plan for a wide variety of situations and communicate to different levels of knowledge and understanding.

I'm a very patient, understanding and dedicated person. I'm enthusiastic to help Korean children learn English. I will graduate university this July, of which I studied Asia Pacific Studies and Korean language. During my time at university I was always very hardworking which has resulted in me achieving a First Class Honours degree. Through my hard work I was awarded a scholarship for my exchange year abroad at Ewha Womans University . Therefore, I have much experience and knowledge of Korean culture and the language. From these experiences and interactions with Koreans I have come to understand how important it is for Koreans to speak fluent English. I wish to help Korean children achieve this. In preparation to teach English, I am now volunteering to help Koreans in my home city with their English speaking. I have a lot of experience with children, I volunteered to teach children aged 4-12 at my local church for one year. Furthermore, I have 10 nieces and nephews, who I look after on many occasions.

I enjoy helping students overcome struggles and obstacles they face when trying to learn a new concept. In the past, I have tutored children from elementary and secondary schools in writing, reading, and math. In addition, I volunteered at an early childhood learning center where I would read out loud to the children, create crafts about American holidays with them, and play games that enforced concepts they learned in their lessons.
I believe that children must have a simulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, and socially. My desire is to create an atmosphere where students can meet their full potential in learning & speaking English. As a teacher, I want to empower and provide students the confidence they need to be able to speak English outside the classroom and use it in their future endeavors.
Since English is the dominant international language of the 21st century, it is important for students to be taught in an innovative way. Using technology will allow for the students to be prepared for the global engagement they will experience in the real world.
Teaching in Korea will allow me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a classroom environment in a new region and continue to fostering this culture exchange and awareness between the students and myself.
