ESL Teachers

My overall teaching experience ranges from small to large English schools in both country and city environments, and, internationally within the private school sector. I feel that my national curriculum and international school background, energy, and, ability to both innovate and inspire would be of great advantage for this position.

As a coordinator for special educational needs I have;

• devised and updated SEN register,
• set targets for children at all stages of the code of practice,
• created SEN documentation for staging process,
• attended case conferences as school SENCO,
• liased with various agencies involved in SEN process e.g social services,
• educational psychologist, educational welfare officer,
• lead inset training
• produced and introduced schemes of work and policy document,
• ordered and maintained resources by managing delegated curriculum budgets,
• attended both inset and coordinators courses for SEN.

As a subject coordinator in (Science, History, Geography, Physical Education) I have;

 attended and ran national curriculum inset courses,
 produced school policy documents in the various subjects based on national curriculum guidelines,
 produced schemes of work,
 managed allocated curriculum budgets, and
 develop assessment guidelines for end of key stage,

I have had a whole range of experience of all KS2 years teaching year 3, 4, 5 and 6, and I have taught with KS1 as a specialist teacher and KS3 years 8 and 9. I believe that the central premise is to ensure both the children and teacher enjoy meeting the challenges that emerge within the classroom.
I ensure that a high standard of education is maintained within my class and teach according to the individual needs of the children. I firmly believe that children learn by "doing" rather than receiving. I believe that both the classroom and whole school environment should be a place where the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and caring.

I've worked in education for a total of 4 years, approximately 2 years have been in South Korea at hagwans. I've worked with a variety of age groups and currently teach kindergarten and elementary school children. I love being creative when I teach and hope that I can make all my teaching experiences fun as well as provide proper discipline.

I am a British Native Speaker who, after having come back from spending 6 months in South Korea au pairing for a Korean family, I became interested in returning and teaching. It will help me gain experience for the PhD I wish to complete in the future, in order to become an Educational Psychologist as well as my desire to deliver the passion and enthusiasm I have for working with children.

I have some experience in assisting in classroom environments (with children and adults), however have not had extensive teaching experience, apart from teaching children aged 3-8 yrs old, in a church setting for 7 years.

I have been described as warm, friendly and fair, which I think are traits needed for jobs involving children for them to feel comfortable and inspired to learn and have fun at the same time!

At the moment I work with kids at the department store that I work at, which involves me interacting with a variety of clientele from all over the world. Towards the end of highschool I worked as a private tutor for ESOL Students (English as a Second Language) , which involved me not only teaching them the material but making sure they understood it in their new language. Being an ESOL tutor meant I had to explain things in more that one way to help the student learn the meaning for themselves.

Personality wise, I would consider myself quite easy going, in the sense that I do not get frustrated or angry easily and do not mind sudden changes. I am friendly and love teaching people new things, I am also creative, enthusiastic and always looking for new experiences. Finally, I also have a strong work ethic so I take pride in what I do and always try to achieve the best.

Due to my experience with working in a variety of different environments, e.g. schools, hospitals and shops, I am friendly and approachable person, with an ability to effectively communicate with others and excellent listening skills. I am a fast learner with an eye for detail, who is also great at adapting to new situations and circumstances. I have a TEFL teaching certificate, so I am familiar with a variety of teaching techniques and strategies.

I am a fun, energetic, enthusiastic person! I am outgoing and enthusiastic about languages and have experience with children. I have volunteered at a preschool for several months as well as taught troubled youth at my recent internship before graduating at Boise State University with a major in Social Science this May. I recently received my TEFL Certificate of 120+ hours. I believe language is the key to building ties between people of different cultures and creeds. I am dedicated to not only learning languages, but also to teaching languages to connect others together.

It is my pleasure to write this precis of my experience and skill set. I am Australian by birth and hold a Bachelor of Arts – Information Management/Librarianship and a Graduate Diploma of Computing. I have in excess of twenty years experience with young adults as the Reference Librarian and as guest lecturer at university in Information Technology and as the Online Courses Administrator. I held the role of librarian each weekend during the school year as well as a full time job in information technology.

I have provided training to colleagues, as well as students. In addition, for many years I have been a Musical Director and music teacher as I have a passion for music. My specialty has been training people aged five years to eighty years to play brass instruments and to polish technique for aspiring career musicians applying for entry into a music conservatorium post secondary or tertiary studies.

For the past few years I have turned my hand to managing homeless shelters for men in Central Australia, this a great number of Aboriginal men were housed in the shelter. I highlight this as the Indigenous peoples of Australia have a different culture and I was successful at being culturally sensitive and at the same time building rapport and respect. In this way, I would do the same in South Korea as I would be just as much a pupil, as the pupils for whom I would teach English.

My wife Jayne and I would like the opportunity to share our passions and love of life and life long learning by living and teaching in South Korea.
