ESL Teachers

Over the past few years, as you will see on my CV, I have worked in Italy and Hong Kong as an English teacher for primary school children. I was responsible for the running of lessons and all it entailed, preparing the material, organizing activities and dealing with students and parents outside of class. Most recently in Hong Kong, I was fortunate to work with a team of brilliant teachers, who taught me the value of teamwork and mutual support. Additionally, as a private tutor I have learnt to recognise people’s potential and to devise ways for them to achieve their goals, so that I have developed positive problem solving skills, good interpersonal skills and work well in a team.

Having returned from my year abroad, I can positively say that I am a fast and avid learner and that, although I have many interests, I am constantly looking to learn more and improve. At the Chinese University of Hong Kong, I was able to take art courses and focus on my personal interests, such as photography and painting. I have always tried to incorporate these in my teaching, having first organised sculpture and printing classes for other fellow students during my International Baccalaureate. For instance, when teaching English vocabulary for the theme ‘space’ at the Dedalo Orsoline in Como, under my supervision the children created paper-mache planets that we then hung to the classroom ceiling. I firmly believe that learning should be a creative and enjoyable process, which should always take into account individual differences and strengths.

I believe that my strengths include having a calm and collected nature which transpires in both my personality and in terms of experience. As I have worked long term in two primary schools in lively, energetic classrooms of children aged between 4-7 years old. You need to have a calm nature about yourself in order to be able get your teaching across well to the children and for also when it can be become a bit hectic in the classroom it is best not to get worked up and frazzled but to be calm and collected in order to bring the level down to a suitable and sustainable level in order for the children to learn effectively and to the best of their ability. I believe I am a calm and collected person and that can translate over to your students which will hopefully come across to the children and make them feel calm and safe while being in the classroom and enjoy being there. Skills wise, I believe my strengths are good and effective communication skills with the children, teachers and parents. Also having good classroom management skills.

I'm a positive person who seeks to establish rapport between both Co-Workers and Students, encouraging a safe and proactive learning environment.

Through the guidance of the TEFL 120 hour course, I built a great understanding in planning and executing lessons, maintaining a high degree of accuracy whilst also confidently presenting course content to students. This in turn allows the students to reciprocate that positivity, allowing my students to leave and enter my class with a good learning attitude.

I pay close attention to detail for presentations and have seek to keep a great deal of care and diligence in my work to enable students to learn, and myself to teach, to the best of our ability.

Having spent time learning a language myself, I can understand the many worries and concerns students can face when confronted with unfamiliar tasks. As such, I am able to take on a pastoral attitude in addition to my position as instructor and assist students with their learning in whatever way I am able.

Built experience having taken a TEFL combined classroom course and spent 6 years as a tutor for various age groups whilst in full time education and university. This experience will enable me to confidently instruct my students and allow them to in turn reciprocate that confidence in their learning.

In terms of personality I am very patient, and understand the need to work at the students pace whilst also challenging them and encouraging them to participate and engage in their learning.

With experience having worked in a pastoral position within my school, I am able to understand concerns and difficulties students can face and use this in my teaching to understand the varying needs and skills of all students whom I have the chance to teach.

I am also looking to apply with another potential Teacher whom I am in contact with, as well as individually.

I am an experienced practical teacher that believes in teaching the value of english to students. As a teacher, I am hands-on, practical and friendly. And I focus on having students apply what they have learned.

My strengths are that I am able to improvise my teaching and lessons with students on the spot. I also over plan my lesson plans.

My most recent teaching experience I have had was in South Korea with EPIK. I taught with EPIK public schools from September 2015-2017 which included all grade levels from elementary school to high school.

I have also taught adults at a vocational college in China from September 2014 to June 2015.

I am a 21 year old British graduate with a degree in mathematics, but also with a particular interest in languages having studied German, Latin, Russian, and French, as well as a 120 hour TEFL course. I am passionate about teaching and mentoring, having experience tutoring younger students during my own education.
I am really excited by this opportunity, as it allows me to pursue both my passion for languages and teaching, whilst also allowing me to explore a new culture that has always been an interest of mine.
I feel I would be a great asset in this role, as I am driven and enthusiastic, whilst also being patient, empathetic, and skilled at developing strong connections with people. I am confident and able to engage with groups, and would be committed and dedicated to ensuring each individual receives the highest quality education I can provide.

I have a lot of experience working with children, as I have been volunteering at the Weston park museum with the children for the last two years. I helped with a wide range of activities from school sleepovers to arts and craft activities. I also spent two months in Cambodia where I was a teaching assistant , I helped with the lesson and helped the children with their pronunciation. I have many skills from working in customer service for the last two years, working at Next, KFC and the University of Sheffield Student Union. These places taught me organisational skills, time management and problem solving. My internship at the Roman Baths helped me develop project management skills as I had to prepare for a public presentation on historical objects of my choosing. Finally, I am an enthuastic person who puts everything they have into any task I am given. Hence, why I feel I would a great edition to any school.

I worked on a week-long placement with an English teacher in a UK secondary school as an assistant, helping younger students with both receptive and productive tasks.

Additionally, I was assigned as a reading buddy for several years in secondary school. In this role, I helped the youngest children of the school with their reading with the aim of encouraging them to read aloud and inspiring them to take up reading in their own time as a hobby.

Coupled with this experience of working with young people, I am an extremely patient person, especially after working for many years in the hospitality industry in which adult customers are knowingly rude and sometimes even aggressive. Therefore, I have developed a knack for remaining calm in stressful situations and can defuse them well.

Quite simply, my history degree taught me to think, speak and write – standing me in excellent stead for a teaching role. I can analyse highly complex situations and communicate my findings and arguments in a sophisticated but understandable manner. I made numerous presentations whilst at university, so I am no stranger to the prospect of standing in front of people and taking the lead in that respect.

Conscientiousness and meticulous attention to detail are among my finest assets, meaning that lesson plans will be fully thought out, with every section of the lesson bearing in mind one ultimate question: how do I maximise the learning of my students?

Furthermore, I will have received highly specialist training through my completion of a 150-hour TEFL course by the time I secure a job to add to all these skills – covering classroom management, lesson structures, class activities and so forth.

I am an English native with a university degree in English Literature with an 80 hour TEFL qualification. I have experience working with vulnerable people, assisting learning and supporting education in a teaching environment. I have an excellent grasp of the English language and have the ability to teach it confidently.
My personality is friendly, out-going and hard-working. I have worked with people from all walks of life and I thrive on meeting new people. I have travelled to various countries in the past as I have a passion for new experiences and learning new things. As a result I have developed personally and professionally from it.
My greatest asset is my passion for teaching, looking forward to the next stage in my career.

As a recent graduate with a first class honours in Asian Pacific Studies, I am knowledgeable in various cultural and social differences that young students in South Korea have and will be able to adapt my knowledge to teach them. Throughout my final year of university, I worked as a receptionist for the Student Union's Advice Centre and was able to balance studying, working and socialising well. This receptionist position also helped me develop the necessary skills to handle all types of people in a calm and sensible manner.

As a British-born Chinese, I am completely fluent in English. But I also know the struggles of learning another language whilst growing up, so I understand how students may feel whilst they are undergoing their English studies. I am passionate in the art of languages and think that it is one of the most important skills a young person can learn and so I hope to be able to assist in a student's learning.

Most importantly, I have completed a 120 hour TEFL course, where I undertook modules on English grammar, teaching methods, telephone teaching, large classroom teaching methods, as well as undergoing classroom observations. In addition to this, I have undertaken Teaching Knowledge Tests, certified by the University of Cambridge. This means that I am well equipped in how to teach English as a second language.
