I am a master’s degree educated, qualified EFL teacher with over 10 years’ experience working with children and young adults in various settings. I enjoy being creative and am also keen to use this creativity and my passion to create stimulating lessons to inspire a class. Introspective and lively, I have a variety of outside interests and remain committed to improving my teaching skills further and contributing to the success of the school. I am a bubbly individual always smiling and positive. I believe that my strength lies in being able to motivate all types of students to study hard and achieve their best.

Although I have never been to Korea, I grew up in Angola as a 'third culture kid', with Portuguese as my second language. I grew up reading books and have wanted to teach English from a young age. I'm outgoing, well-spoken and have a fairly neutral accent on account of my upbringing. Having received my Bachelors at a university in the UK I'm eager to pursue new experiences, and because of my ongoing passion for reading and writing, the opportunity afforded by TEFL academy to travel and teach English seems like a dream come true.

I do not have any experience as I have recently graduated. I am an open hearted and minded person that can be loud at times. I enjoy being around people. I am computer literate, I have good written and verbal communication skills. I also possess good management and time management skills.

I have completed a 120 hour TEFL course, as well as two additional advanced grammar and teaching young learners courses. In the past, I've had experience being an assistant for my prior horseback riding instructor and helped her instruct young children to properly ride the horses.

I have a high energy personality well suited for handling smaller children and an energetic, yet patient, attitude to match. In the past, I've done well matching the energy of children, while also managing safety and varying attitudes

Through my previous employment experience, I have instructed a wide variety of students from various backgrounds and cultures. As a result, I believe I am someone who is very understanding and sensitive to students’ needs. I am looking forward to immerse myself into the culture of my host country, developing long life relationship and adding value to the lives of my potential students regardless of their age and where they are in life, while bearing in my mind that it is my responsibility to be culturally sensitive, courteous and empathetic at all times.

My live for the receiving and sharing of information and knowledge, and linguistics is the best way to do so.

My previous experience in auditing appealed to my logical aand analytical side, my current work as an ESL teacher requires me to be emphathetic, patient, focused and a life coach of some sort to students who are young and lack confidence. Learning to adapt lessons and approaches to the majority of students will be the best skill I have obtained.

The experience of studying abroad for a year is my greatest asset as it gave me the opportunity to embrace and adapt to a different culture and environment. I took many classes which focused on teamwork and group presentations which allowed me to demonstrate how to communicate effectively and overcome conflict, as well as planning ahead and ensuring work was completed on time.

Being a good listener is a strength of mine as I believe observation is key when it comes to teaching because successful classes should be tailored around the students needs. I am also very energetic and friendly, especially around children, as I believe they should always feel comfortable around an adult; but more importantly, because teaching and learning should both be fun. I am open to learning new languages which is why I would love to be able to teach English to those willing to learn, as I believe this is the best way to meet new people and see more of the world.

I earned my TEFL certification after completing a Level 5 140-hour course. Through my teaching experiences and TEFL studies, I developed critical pedagogic and classroom management skills, along with a passion for teaching English.
I'm equipped with the Communicative Teaching Method, I apply this method in the classroom through interactive, student-centred activities that maximize “student talk time.” I scaffold my lessons so that they include pair and group work, as well as movement around the classroom. By engaging students in speaking, grammar, writing, listening, and reading and appealing to diverse learning styles, I help them improve their accuracy and fluency across key skill areas.
I understand both the excitement and the challenges that accompany learning a new language and living abroad. In my classes, I typically set aside five to ten minutes at the start of each class for students to share their “highs” and “lows” for the week, an activity that my students have appreciated as they adapted to new surroundings. I aim to support students’ social-emotional well-being as they learn English and deepen their global awareness.
